Chapter 8, Page 8 | I mentioned my girl back home in the opening dedication, but would like to offer a few more images that I carried with me during my time overseas. The first is a picture of Betty shortly after she graduated from High School. I believe this was about the time that I was in Service School in Chicago. Betty did not like her graduation picture so she had this one taken as a better picture for me. Since everything we had was kept in a small locker I kept this and other photos in plastic to prevent damage. |
The next photo was a bit of a joke on me. I wrote Betty about how hot it was where I was and she had this photo taken during our Iowa winter. She said she posed this way to "cool me off." The inscription on the photo included her nickname, Bem. |
