Chapter 8, Page 7

This is another of the photos taken by my buddies and me using very crude equipment. On my trip to San Diego after returning from the South Pacific we were greeted by the site of this row of destroyers all lined up for decommissioning. It was a sad site to see these ships lined up and essentially forgotten when you consider all the men who had fought so hard to bring them home.

As I mentioned, I was able to get a leave upon my return to the states. This photo shows me sporting my new "tailor mades" which is a term we used to refer to the custom made uniform that we reserved for off duty use.
