At Spruce Tree Design we disagree with both of these thoughts. First let’s talk about money since that is the first question we always get, “just what is this going to cost me?” To this we ask the question, “What will it cost you to do nothing?”

A web presence is not necessary to carry on a very successful small business, but if your competitor is doing it you’d better get something going since too many times a company is judged solely on its ability to keep up with its competitors. But spending huge sums of money just to have a site does not always make the sense. So just what does it cost? For most small business sites with a couple pages of information and a clear idea of what they want, under a thousand dollars, which is about the same cost as a yearly fee for yellow pages advertising. This price of course does not include registration of your domain name or the cost of web hosting, and is subject to change based on your needs.

We very strongly disagree with the thought that getting some high school kid to “throw something up there.” We don’t believe that a computer savvy youngster can take a serious look at your business and develop a site that matches the look and feel of your business. We truly believe that your web site developer should have some experience in business and know what it takes to keep that business moving in a profitable direction.
