Notes for Walter Alfred BREYFOGLE

Walter Alfred Breyfogle was living on Merriville Road, Crown Point, IN and was listed as single and working as a farmer near Crown Point, IN on his father's farm. He was recorded as being tall with a slender build, red hair, and gray eyes.

The 1930 Federal Census for Center Township, Lake County, Indiana found Walter listed as the head of household with his mother Mary living with him and her other children. Walter A. Breyfogle is listed as head of household and Mary follows his name with the relationship as 'Mother of Head of Household.'

Walter Breyfogle has again received the gold medal awarded for the number of bushels of potatoes per acre grown in Indiana in 1942. Mr. Breyfogle rated second in Indiana with 589.5 bushels, the winning contest raising 591 bushels to the acre grown in the muck soil of the Bass Lake area.
