Obituaries

TRAVERSE CITY - Ralph H. Breyfogle, 79, of Traverse City, formerly of Downers Grove, Ill., died Friday, Feb. 2. He was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Kalamazoo, the son of Howard and Hazel (Wildman) Breyfogle. He married Joann Earley in Alton, Ill. on Nov. 25, 1942.

Mr. Breyfogle was a pilot for United Airlines for more than 35 years. He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as an Air Transport Pilot. He enjoyed golf, bowling and flying, and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Joann of Traverse City; daughter, Donna (Ron) Ruward of Texas and Montana; son, Steven (Stephanie) Breyfogle of Roslyn, Wash.; sister, Evelyn Mae Carrier of Upper Mont Claire, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and a daughter in infancy.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. David Irvine will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army or Munson Hospice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
