Notes for Millard Hugh BREYFOGLE

Breyfogle, Millard Hugh "BILL," 83, died peacefully on Friday, Aug. 5, 2005 in LaGrange, Georgia. A native of Chicago, Ill., he was an Episcopal Priest, ordained in 1959 after attending seminary at the University of the South at Sewanee. He began his ministry in small country churches in central Florida before being called to Marianna, Fla. and later to Saint Catherine's in Jacksonville. He was called to All Saints' Morristown in August of 1969 and served until 1984 as the second rector of the parish that had been an Episcopal Mission since the late 1800s. His ministry at All Saints provided the leadership for major growth of the church. In 1970 the first All Saints Bar-B-Q was held which now serves as a major source of funding for the church's many outreach programs. During Breyfogle's ministry a new educational building, Parish Hall was built and later a new sanctuary was consecrated in 1979. The All Saints Episcopal School was expanded and the groundwork was prepared for increasing the classes and grades being offered at the school. He was a member of the Order of Saint Luke, the Evangelical Education Society and the Rural Workers Fellowship. He returned to Marianna and later retired and has been a resident of LaGrange since 2002.

His beloved wife Elizabeth Waltz preceded him in death. Survivors are two sons, John Breyfogle of Guntersville, Ala. and Sam Breyfogle of LaGrange; daughter, Barbara Breyfogle of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Sara and Scott Breyfogle of LaGrange and his sister, Pat McBrayer of Beaufort, S.C. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Saint Mark's, Episcopal Church, 207 North Greenwood in LaGrange with the Rev. Lori M. Lowe officiating.

His remains will be interred in the columbarium at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marianna, Fla. The family request that memorials be made to the All Saints Episcopal School Endowment Fund in Morristown or to Saint Luke's in Marianna or Saint Mark's in LaGrange.
