Obituary August Peter Johnson

Following injuries due to a fall and subsequent confinement in the Consort Hospital, August Peter Johnson passed away on Jan. 12 at the age of 88 years.

Born in Sweden on Jan. 12, 1864, Mr. Johnson spent five years in the army before coming to Canada in 1890. Later he moved to the States where he homesteaded at Wadenia, Minnesota.

In 1905 he married Phebe Bevins and in 1919 moved with his family to a farm south of Consort. There Mr. Johnson resided until 1944 when he retired and moved into Consort.

Funeral services were conducted from Knox United Church at 2.00 p.m. January 15th. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, three daughters and five grandchildren. The daughters (Mary), Mrs. R.G. Magee of Clive, (Della), Mrs. A. Lindeman, and (Ivy), Mrs. S. Covlin both of Consort. The grandchildren are Elizabeth Donna and Richard Magee, and Shirley and Donald Lindemann.

The pallbearers were A. Smith; J. Fossum; G. Haugen; R. Cross; W. Carmichael; and H. Kelts.

Interment was in the Lake Road Cemetery with Matthias Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
