Enlisted as a Sergeant 2nd Class on August 20, 1861 at the age of 21
Enlisted in Company I, 3rd Cavalry Regiment Iowa on September 6, 1861
Died of disease Company I, 3rd Cavalry Regiment Iowa on September 18, 1862 in Helena, AR
