Notes for Helen Cox BREYFOGLE

HELEN COX SCHELLENBERG (nee Breyfogle)

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Helen Cox Schellenberg, on Saturday, March 30, 1991 at the orris General Hospital, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. from the Morris United Church, with Rev. Bob and Myrna Stark officiating. Private family interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Morris Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

HELEN COX SCHELLENBERG (nee Breyfogle)

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Helen Cox Schellenberg, on Saturday, March 30, 1991 at the Morris General Hospital, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Helen was born in Union Point, Manitoba on May 22, 1920, growing up there and in Chicago, Illinois; later living in Oterburne West, Winnipeg,Selkirk and Morris. Helen worked for the Manitoba Telephone System until 1970. When she left her position as Chief Operator in Selkirk, to marry her beloved husband Bill.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Wanda Breyfogle on April 18, 1987 and March 22, 1983 respectively; a sister Dorothy on February 15, 1946 and stepson Bruce Schellenberg on September 27, 1987.

Left to mourn her passing, besides her loving husband Bill, are her beloved daughter and son-in-law Sylvia and
David Miller of Winnipeg; the following stepchildren whom she loved as dearly as her own, Don (Fay) of Stouffville, Ont., Shirley (Don Remel), John (Laurel) all of Langley, B.C., Dale (Julie) of Aldergrove, B.C., Carol Peters of Mission, B.C., Wanda of Calgary, Barry (Diane), 5andy (Brian Klassen), Kelly and friend Sandra, Curtis and friend Kim, all of Morris; two brothers, Edward and wife Ruth of Winnipeg, Warren and wife Joyce of Sandy Hook; brothers-in-law, John of Vernon, B.C., Art (Dorothy) of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Annie Dueck, Helen (Jack Ducck) all of Morris, Martha (John Dueck) of Steinbach, Elsie Dyck of Winnipeg; 28 grandchildren ; and special friends, Lis and Ivar Limstrup, Earle and Christine Curiston, Betty and Brian Pettapiece and Ernie and Dennise Chatterton.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other cherished friends. Honey, as she was affectionately known to many, loved gardening, knitting, cooking, baking, and traveling, particularly to Hawaii. In her early years, Helen was very active in the Union Point Calf and Poultry Clubs. She also bred Holsteins and showed them at many fairs. This wonderful, hard working woman taught Sunday School for a number of years at Otterburne West, and at the time of her passing was an active member of the Sheba Chapter No. 51, Order of the Eastern Star, Morris Lioness Club, Valley Agricultural Society, Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Morris United Church. Helen was also a volunteer for 20 years at the Manitoba Stampede grandstand ticket office and Pioneer
Partners.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. from the Morris United Church, with Rev. Bob and Myrna Stark officiating. Private family interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Morris Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Arrangements by the Morris Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined. ROG IKO, Special thanks to Reverends Bob and Myrna Stark for always being there when Helen or the family needed them; to Julie Taylor and the excellent nursing staff at the Morris General Hospital for their kindness, gentleness and caring; Doctors Fraser, Manness, Weinermann, Baril, and Molgat for their foresight, support, caring, strength and kindness; and the Oncology Staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital that helped to give Helen the strength to continue the battle over the last eight years,

“you were always there when we needed you,

No task too great or small,

With a loving heart and a willing hand,

For us you did them all.

Thanks for the years you gave us,

For all the dreams that we shared,

We only pray that when you left us

You knew how much we cared.”

We thank God for all the wonderful years we scared with her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and Mend.
