Gene Keeler, 63

ESTHERVILLE - Gene Keeler, 63, of Estherville, formerly of State Center, died April 9, 2005, at Avery Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in State Center, with burial in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Visitation is at the church from 11 a.m. to time of service.

Left to cherish Gene's memory is her husband Carl of Estherville; her mother Inez Henze Badger of State Center; brothers, Dennis (Mary Jo) Henze and David (Marie) Henze, both of Zearing; sisters, Mary Jo (Richard Rabbit) Browning of Zearing, Helen (Larry) Norman and Paula (David) Eaton, all of State Center; stepson Dennis Keeler of Downey, Calif.; stepdaughter Susy Sheber of Long Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Gene Elizabeth Keeler, 63, of Estherville will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville, with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown, Iowa. She died Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the church on Tuesday.

Gene Elizabeth Keeler, the daughter of William and Inez (Fricke) Henze was born September 19, 1941 in State Center, Iowa.

Gene was born and grew up in Marshall County. She received her education in Zearing High School in 1959. She worked as a nurse aide in various facilities in the Marshall town area. She then moved to Estherville after she met Carl.

On October 4, 1978 she was united in marriage to Carl Keeler in Jackson, Minn. Gene was employed as a dietary aide at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. auxiliary. For a hobby, Gene enjoyed walking and watching baseball. She was also a cook at church camp.

Left to cherish Gene's Memory are her husband, Carl of Estherville; mother, Inez Henze Badger of State Center; brothers, Dennis Henze and his wife, Mary Jo and David Henze and his wife, Marie all of Zearing; sisters, Mary Jo Browning and her husband, Richard Rabbit of Zearing; Helen Norman and her husband Larry and Paul Eaton and her husband, David all of State Center; step-son, Dennis Keeler of Downey, Calif.; step-daughter, Susy Sheber of Long Beach, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her father, William Henze, her grandparents and her step-dad, Cleve Badger.
