Notes for Sophie E. MCPHERSON

Prior to her marriage to Edwin, Sophia lived with her sister Mary. Mary was married to William YOung, Jr. and made their home in St. Louis. Sophia did not list employment at this time.

Sophie is living alone and listed as the President of the Women's Exchange in Palo Alto, CA. The census form is dated January 15 & 16, 1920 and her marital status is listed as widow.

Sophie was listed in the 1930 Federal Census as being the head of her household and living in a home she owned. It is presumed that her husband had passed away prior to this date since family records do not mention a seperation or divorce.

Sophie was listed in the 1921/22 Palo Alto city directory and no mention is made of Edwin. It is assumed that he had passed away prior to publication.
