Notes for John Winstandley BREYFOGLE

Lewis Breyfogle indicates that John illustrated a book published by his father.

John is known to have painted "The Dancer" a 24" X 20" unsigned oil on canvas.

John, at the age of 23, registered for the draft using the name John Breyfogle - Winstanley. It appears that a draft board worker altered the name to John Breyfogle/Winstanley. The birth month, day, and year matches the Flora Grumman work and it is assumed this is the person known to our research as John Winstandley Breyfogle, although there is further confusion with the reference to his nearest relative listed as Evelyn Breyfogle - Winstanley, which it appears is listed as his wife. This does not match current research that indicates he was married to Phoebe M. Peters in 1897. John is listed as an advertising person with the Dentists supply Company of New York, NY. He recorded that he was tall with a stout build and dark gray hair color. Eye color had a check mark instead of a color name. This military record adds confusion to this person and further research is needed to clarify it.
