Jacob's name appears in the 1790 Berk's county Census listed as follows:

Page 38, Line 25, Brewfogel, Jacob, 3 Free White Males over 16, 2 Free White Males under 16, and 5 Females, no other persons listed nor any slaves.

Flora Grumman and Lewis Breyfogle listed children for Jacob with Solomon being the only common name. Flora listed Joshua, Solomon, and Charles. Lewis listed Catherine, Susannah, Solomon, Daniel, Hiram, and James.

A fellow researcher, Shirley Hern, has inquired about Rachel Breyvogel. Her research yields this bit of information:

"Rachel Breyvogel married Peter Baum 27 March 1797 at Reading, Berks Co., PA.
They were living in Cumberland Co., PA in 1800 but had moved to Stark Co.,
OH by 1807. Rachel was born 4 July 1778 in PA and died 12 July 1846 in
Stark Co."

In subsequent e-mails concerning this family group Shirley presented this further bit of information:

"Peter Baum, b. abt 1774, d. 3 Oct 1825 in Stark Co., OH.

He left minor children and Benjamin Breyfogle was named guardian of Esther and Hannah Baum. I suspect this Benjamin was a near relative of Rachel, possibly her brother.

Benjamin Breyfogel was on the 1820 census of Stark Co. He and wife, Mary, are also on 1850 census in Stark Co. Benjamin died there in 1858. He was 68 in 1850. I have seen postings on Benjamin that say he was the son of Jacob Breyvogel and Maria Price, but source information is lacking. Benjamin married Mary Metz.

Jacob is the son of Johann Peter Breyvogel. It may be that Rachel was the eldest child of Jacob and Maria. Certainly her birth date, and that of Benjamin, is in the correct time frame. The children of Peter and Rachel are: Anna; Mary (Polly); Rebecca; Susanna (my husband's line), who married Jacob Wert; Catherine; Lydia; John; Esther (Hetty); Sarah (Sally); Hannah; Jacob and Daniel Baum. The only child I know for Benjamin and Mary is a daughter, Lydia. "

As indicated in the notes section for Jacob and Maria, Lewis Breyfogle and Flora Grumman did not completely agree on the names of the children for this couple so it is very possible that Benjamin and Rachel fit here. Further research is needed to clarify this information.
