Notes for Henry S. BREYFOGLE

The 1860 Federal Census found Henry and his wife Mary living in Kansas City, MO with a one month old child, John F. Breyfogle. The family appears to be living in an apartment, out building, or within the home of Joseph Clark. This is based on the fact that the census taker noted this to be dwelling 609 for both family groups. The 1860 census did not record the relationship between families living in the same dwelling, such as renter or boarder.

Henry is listed as a Farmer and Joseph Clark is listed as a carpenter and his wife is a School Teacher, so the relationship does not appear to be one of a hired hand.

Enlisted as a Corporal on 08 February 1865 at the age of 26
Enlisted in Company C, 186th Infantry Regiment Ohio on 26 February 1865
Promoted to Full Sergeant on 24 July 1865
Mustered out on 18 September 1865 in Nashville, TN

Henry, wife Mary and daughter Margaret and her jusband David Freshwater were living in Delaware, Ohio with Henry listed as living on his "Own Income," whcih perhaps means he is retired.

Mary (Littick) Breyfogle filed for a Civil War Pension on March 15, 1915 following Henry's death.

Flora Grumman indicated that Henry lived at Stratford, Delaware Co., Ohio.
