Notes for William D. BREYFOGLE

William was thanked by General Hancock for conspicuous bravery at the battle of Gettysburg.

William was wounded on 25 September 1861 and was again wounded on 02 July 1863. He was transferred on 05 June 1864 to 4th Batt Regiment Ohio.

A request for a Civil War Pension was filed under the name of William D. Breyfogle. The date on the form is not clear enough to determine if it was filed before or after his death. It appears to be July 25, 1865, which would 3-months follow his death making it a survivors benefit.
