Notes for George Jefferson BREYFOGLE

Contributor writes:

"Liberty Cemetery is located on O'Brien County Road B62 (also known as 500th Street), 1 mile west of State Highway 59. This intersection is 1.2 miles south of the entrance to Calumet, IA. The grave is located in farthest east section of the cemetery.

This is a large family plot with a central stone marked: Breyfogle

The headstones for the family are on a north/south line with headstones arranged as follows (starting on the left/north):

Son Walter S., empty plot, Daughter Jennie M., Daughter Margaret E., central stone, empty plot, empty plot, Mother Achsah V., Father George J. (each stone has year of birth and death)

The stones are red granite and in very good condition and have a modern design, these do not look like original markings."

The 1920 Federal Census for Liberty Township, O'Brien County, Iowa found George with the following members still at home:

It was noted that George J. was employed in general farming and that both sons were farm laborers with the added note 'working out.' It is assumed that this meant that they were not employed on their father's farm but for others.
