Notes for Joseph Ernest BREYFOGLE

EDITORS NOTE:

There is some confusion over the actual first name for this individual. Most records list him as Joseph Ernest Breyfogle, but in several census reports and his WWI Draft Registraton list him as Ernest J. Breyfogle.

Business Interest of Primghar in 1913

It may be interesting in after years to note in whose hands the business of Primghar was that the date of compiling this history, hence the subjoined will be given:

Dray Lines – W.J. Warner, George Neath, John Bloom, W.S. Courtright, Harry Freelund, Ernest Breyfogle.

SOURCE: History of O’Brien County, Chapter XXIV, Volume I

The WWI Draft Registration Card records Ernest J. Breyfogle and wife Marie living in Primghar, O'Brien, IA. He is self employed as a Teamster and is listed as Medium height and build with Blue eyes and dark brown hair.

SOURCE: WWI Draft Registration Card dated September 12, 1918

EDITORS NOTE:

The 1930 Federal Census for O'Brien County, Center Township shows Wm Breyfogle, Father, living with Ernest Breyfogle. It is assumed that this is William Milton Breyfogle since the birth years agree and other research shows this to be the son of William Milton Breyfogle.

Contributor writes:

Ernest Breyfogle of Pringhar married Marie Sheets....

EDITORS NOTE: Prior research shows his wife's maiden name to be Nielsen and 1920 Federal Census shows two step daughters for Ernest Breyfogle, Mabel M. Sheets and Myaela E. Sheets. Further research is needed.

SOURCE: Rita Breyfogle Letter May 16, 2004, 1920 Federal Census, and 1930 Federal Census

EDITORS NOTE:

The 1920 Federal Census shows a son Joseph E. Breyfogle, 2 months old, but since none of the other sources available at this time indicate this child I make note of it here. I also note the 1920 Federal Census shows two step daughters for Ernest Breyfogle, Mabel M. Sheets and Myaela E. Sheets. No other information is available at this time.
