Notes for Abigail MYERS

Liberty Cemetery is located on O'Brien County Road B62 (also known as 500th Street), 1 mile west of State Highway 59. This intersection is 1.2 miles south of the entrance to Calumet, IA. The grave is located in farthest east section of the cemetery.

The grave is marked with a large gray piller type headstone marked as follows:

Wm. M. & Abigal
Breyfogle
Born 1887
Died 1889

(South Face)
Abigal
Wife of
Wm. M.
Breyfogle
Born 1857
Died 1896

Note that the spelling of the first name is Abigal instead of Abigail as shown in this record. The west face is barely readable but the south face was very clear on September 5, 2001. This headstone is approximately 6 foot tall and sets behind (to the east) of William Milton Breyfogle's (husband and father) headstone.

Abigail is listed as the daugher of Alexander Myers on the census files as follows:

1850 Federal Census of Moira Township Franklin County New York, Page 96 - 97
1860 Federal Census of Bombay Township Franklin County New York, Page 238 house 300
1870 Federal Census of South Fork Twonship Delaware County Iowa Page 32

This information was provided by a family member who also provided the information that Alexander, his wife Lucy, and their family moved from Canada to Delaware County, Iowa in 1863.
