Notes for George Gustavious ELGIN

George Gustavus Elgin, living at 504 East Jackson, Centerville, Appanoose, IA, registed for the WWI Draft and reported that he was a Hostler with the C. B. & Q Railroad (Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad). By definition, a hostler is a title for a railroad employee qualified to move locomotives while in a yard or shops complex, but not on the mail line. He was married and reported his height as short with a slender build, blue eyes, and brown hair.
