Geraldine Paris, the daughter of Cloyd and Olive (Martz) Paris, was born November 6, 1921, in Fraser, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 82 years.

She received her education in the Fraser and Boone, Iowa schools, graduating from Boone High School in 1940.

On June 29, 1940, Geraldine was united in marriage to Raymond Woodyard in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Raleigh, Iowa area. In the late 1960's the family moved into Estherville. Geraldine was a homemaker and raised their children. For hobbies she enjoyed fishing, gardening and was especially known as a "great cook." Geraldine also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and watching game shows on television and solving the questions and problems that contestants couldn't. Due to a stroke, Geraldine has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since early 1994. One of Geraldine's greatest joys was spending time with and caring for her grandchildren. Raymond died May 4, 1994.

Left to cherish Geraldine's memory are three daughters, Phyllis Richardson and her husband, Daniel; Cathy Whitacre and her husband, Charles Jr.; Chris Sorenson and her husband, Lyle all of Estherville; five grandchildren, Terri Jager and her husband Paul; Rick Richardson and his wife, Mandy; Tony, Travis, and Tammy Whitacre; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Jager; Austin, Damien, and Chance Richardson; sisters and brothers, Pat Casotti and her husband Dean, of Boone, Iowa; Waneta King of Boxholm, Iowa; Raymond Paris and his wife, Cece of Boone; Jan Patterson and her husband, Pat of Boone and Judy Sondall and her husband, Don of Boone.

Preceding her in death were her husband; infant sister, Ruth Victoria; infant brother, Larry Dale; parents; one sister, Betty Keeler; and two brothers, C.O. Paris and Bill Paris.

Geraldine Woodyard

ESTHERVILLE - Graveside services for Geraldine Woodyard, 82, of Estherville will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, at Pilot Mound Cemetery in Pilot Mound with the Rev. Robert Gardner officiating. She died on Saturday, March 20 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
