Viola Nettie Hoffmeyer, daughter of Thomas and Nettie (Pride) Keeler, was born January 6, 1917 in Fort Dodg3e, Iowa. She attended school in Emmet County.

On December 20, 1934 Viola was united in marriage to Jesse "Ray" Hoffmeyer in Spirit Lake, Iowa. To this union fourteen children were born. Viola was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Ray and Viola lived in Estherville until 1968 when they moved to Illinois. They later returned to Iowa making Emmetsburg their home.

Viola died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; two children, Marlene and Edward Hoffmeyer; brother, Frank Keeler; grandson, John Hoffmeyer, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Jenny Hoffmeyer.

She is survived by her children, Alice Sidles of Emmetsburg, IA, Donna Kilen of Estherville, IA, John Hoffmeyer and his wife, Catherine of West Olive, MI, Carol Hoffmeyer and his wife, Sandy of Murchison, TX, Beverly Linden and her husband, Robert of Manly, IA, Raymond Hoffmeyer and his wife, Phyllis of Plainfield, IL, Mary Holm of Rochester, MN, Tom Hoffmeyer and his wife, Vickie of Whitehouse, TX, Connie Iverson and her husband, Ken of Chandler, TX, Colleen Anderson and her husband, Alan of Mallard, IA, Nancy Kaneer of Estherville, IA and Barbara Cuppy of Celon, MN; thirty seven grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchi8ldren; brothers Bohumir Keeler, Carl Keeler and Eldon Keeler of Estherville, IA; sisters, Ruth Schroeder, Pauline Mann and Ethel Whitacre of Estherville, IA, Gertrude Weibel of Hawaii and Mary Ross of Fort Worth, TX; as well as many other relatives and friends.
