St. Helen's Catholic Church, Hebron, was the afternoon setting of nuptial services joining in marriage, Peggy Aylesworth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Aylesworth of rural Hebron and Gary Stephen Novotny, 1312 Redwing Dr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Novotny of Whiting.

The Rev. Joseph Casey officiated at the ceremony, Feb. 16, which was followed by a reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Valparaiso. Cheryl Aylesworth of Berkeley, Calif. was her sister's maid of honor. Her sisters, Christine of Lafayette and Lori of Hebron and the groom's sister, Merribeth Novothy, Hammond, were bridesmaids.

Attending his brother as a best man was Paul Novotny of Hammond. Terry Kirwin, South Bend, Michael Martello, Cedarburg, Wis. and William Broderick of Hammond were groomsmen.

The simple slimming princess lines of the bride's velvet silhoutte was enhanced at the bodice with a hand crocheted sleeveless bolero. A matching white velvet cloche decorated with a pearl clip secured her floorlength veil of sheer nylon illusion. She carried a cascade of white carnations, rosebuds and baby's breath framed in greenery to complete her garb.

Mrs. Novotny, a graduate of Hebron High School, and Ball State University, teaches speech and drama at Valparaiso High School. Her husband graduated in 1970 from George Rogers Clark High School. Enrolled at Valparaiso University and completing work on a speech and drama major, Novotny is also employed as an advertising executive with The Vidette-Messenger.
