Notes for Elwood HERRIN/Florence M. BREYFOGLE

FLORENCE BREYFOGLE HONORED

Thirty-five, out of an invited guest list of forty, responded to invitations sent out by Mrs. John
Horst, for a Thursday evening party given complimentary to Miss Florence Breyfogle of this city, who on Feb. 8, will become the bride of Elwood Herrin of Los Angeles, Calif. Miss Breyfogle has been a much feted young woman since the announcement of her engagement, and several more lovely parties in her honor, are in the offing. Mrs. Horst's party was one of the most original ever given in Crown Point. Because Miss Breyfogle is to live in California her hostess chose a California setting for her clever party. The guests were privileged to pick oranges and tangerines and smell the fragrance of orange blossoms in the atmosphere, which Mrs. Horst had so cleverly created. California fruits were used in abundance in the decorations.

Each guest came in costume and many mirth-provoking outfits, which convulsed the onlookers were in evidence. Winter and summer scenes were depicted bathing suits, shorts, riding breeches, mountain costumes and the hostess appeared in a fish net dress which really was most original. The entertainment was in keeping with original ideas of Mrs. Horst and clever stunts were performed by the guests. Mrs. Ruth Bruce and Mrs. Given Hard won lovely favors. Mrs. Virginia Lamson and Mrs. Louise Young won the prize for the cleverest costume. Theirs were identical. Later Mrs. Horst served a buffet supper. The dining room table was centered with a gorgeous display of fruits. Real seashells were used for nut cups.

Mrs. Horst presented Miss Breyfogle with a white leather and gold recipe box.

Each guest brought the guest of honor her favorite recipes. On Sunday Miss Henrietta Newton of Gary is entertaining at a tea in honor of Miss Breyfogle. Miss Wilma Nichols of Gary is assisting.
