Notes for Walter Alfred BREYFOGLE/Mary Lou WOOLLEY

Mary Lou Woolley to Wed W. A. Breyfogle in February
Interesting news of a decidedly romantic variety was revealed last night by Miss Mary Lou Woolley when she entertained about 12 of her friends at her home in 8 Mason Street at a bridge party, for she announced he betrothal to Walter A. Breyfogle of Crown Point and accordingly surprised all the guests. Although no definite date for the wedding was disclosed, it will be an event of early February. Miss Woolley, a good looking brown-eyed girl with a host of friends, is the only daughter of Mr. And Mrs. B. C, Woolley, and Mr. Breyfogle is the son of Mrs. Louis C. Breyfogle, "Ellendale," Crown Point.
If any of Miss Woolley's friends suspected that she had plans to announce her engagement at last nights lovely party, their curiosity was not satisfied immediately for the news was not told until the games were ended and refreshments were served at several tables. It was then that the guests found tiny "letters" for them attached to pink and green ribbons leading to miniature post offices cleverly made by the hostess of Lincoln logs to center each table. The cards within the envelopes were found to bear the names of "Mary Lou" and "Walter." The same effective pink and green color scheme was furthered in the nut cups, which marked each guest's place.
During the party Miss Woolley wore a corsage of white carnations sent to her by her fiancé, who also provided the red roses, which were decorative in the Woolley home. Miss Woolley disclosed that she received her engagement ring on her recent birthday but didn't wear it openly until she could announce the betrothal news to her friends.
Carefully chosen and festively wrapped bridge prizes went to Miss Elmira Gardner of East Chicago, Miss Virginia Parrett and Mrs. Harold Breyfogle of Crown Point, whose tallies were highest. Miss Margaret Work won the award in another game.
For the past few years, Mrs. Breyfogle's fiancée has been connected with the Hammond city school system and now is teaching at the Harding school. She is a graduate of the Hammond high school and continued her education at Ball State Teachers' college, Northwestern University, the National College of Education and Indiana University Extension division. Miss Woolley, a young woman with many interests, is a member of the Hammond Junior Woman's club, belongs to the National College of Education Alumnae society, the Association of Ball State Teachers' college and has recently become a member of the Hammond chapter of the Tri Kappa sorority.
Mr. Breyfogle attended high school in Crown Point and took his advanced education at Purdue University. He is president of the Lake County Federal bank in Crown Point, belongs to the Rotary club in his hometown and is a member of the Purdue Ags. He is also occupied with agriculture and cattle raising.
